What a backup person can do

Social Security lets you name up to three people ahead of time. It is your choice, and it does not give anyone control of your account.

They cannot see your accountNo payments, no letters, no signing in. And they can't ask for that on their own.
They cannot move your moneyThey can never redirect your benefits or make decisions for you.
They can only be calledThe only thing this does is let us phone them in the situations you choose.
